Enter each carton accurately
Measure the outside of the sealed carton and weigh it after packing. Use centimetres for length, width and height, and kilograms for the total packed weight.
Identical cartons can be entered as a quantity. If the sizes or weights differ, add separate items so the quote represents the full shipment.
How carton freight is priced
Rates depend on the pickup and delivery locations, service, packed dimensions and weight. A large, lightweight carton can cost more than expected because it takes up space in the carrier network.
Use appropriately sized packaging while leaving enough protection for the goods. Do not rely on the product's unpacked dimensions when requesting your quote.
Pack and label your cartons
Use cartons suitable for the weight and type of goods, protect the contents from movement and seal the packaging securely. Remove obsolete delivery labels before attaching the new ones.
Keep labels visible and follow the requirements of the selected service. Fragile goods need suitable protective packaging; a fragile label alone does not protect the contents.
Check collection and delivery details
Select residential or commercial accurately at each end. Confirm that the goods will be ready for collection and that the delivery address and contact details are complete.
For a large quantity of cartons, ask whether palletising is appropriate. Packing cartons on a pallet changes the dimensions, weight and loading requirements, so it needs a separate assessment.
